Drill Rods

BUYING GUIDE

How to Select Drill Rods

PerfoMax supplies drill rods and extension rods for rock drilling systems used in mining, quarrying and tunneling. For B2B purchasing, rod selection is primarily a compatibility decision: the rod must match the drill or shank at one end, the bit or coupling at the other, and the required hole depth and drilling conditions in between.

How to select: confirm the connection standard first, then specify rod length, diameter or section, required coupling arrangement and the drill and bit models already in use. If the order is for replacement or mixed-brand equipment, send existing part numbers, thread or taper information and clear photos or drawings. Matching the complete drilling string reduces the risk of connection mismatch, premature wear and avoidable downtime. For deeper holes or extension drilling, also confirm the planned string length and any coupling requirements. This makes it easier to quote the rod system as a matched set rather than as isolated pieces.

For system matching, review our drill bits and rock drills. Order quantity, bundling, thread protection, export packing, Incoterm and destination can be aligned during quotation. If the connection is uncertain, request a compatibility check before placing a B2B order.

APPLICATION-LED PRODUCT MATCHING

Match Drill Rods by Thread System, Length and Drill-String Layout

Treat the rod as part of a drill string. The rock drill or drifter, shank adapter, coupling, rod and bit must use a compatible interface. Confirm feed length, planned string length, hole requirement and handling limits before comparing rod options.

Information to include in your RFQ

  • Rig and rock-drill or drifter model
  • Existing shank adapter, coupling and bit thread
  • Rod length, feed length and planned string length
  • Hole diameter, depth and rock conditions
  • Required quantity, packing and destination

Send the application, current equipment or interface, required size, quantity and destination. PerfoMax will use those inputs to review compatibility before the commercial quotation.
