Y24 Handheld vs YT24 Air-Leg Rock Drill: What Is the Difference?

Y24 handheld and YT24 air-leg supported rock drill buying paths compared

Quick answer: Y24 is the handheld route. YT24 is the air-leg-supported route. Their similar names do not make the drill bodies, support systems, parts or supply packages interchangeable. If you are requesting a quotation, start by confirming how the drill will be supported, then identify the exact model, interfaces and accessories.

The difference in 30 seconds

Decision Y24 YT24
Support method Handheld; the operator supports and positions the drill. Air-leg supported; the drill works as part of a supported feed setup.
PerfoMax buying path A defined Y24 handheld product page. A YT24-series family entry. Confirm YT24C, TY24 or identification required.
Shank class H22×108 mm on the current Y24 page. H22×108 class on the family page; this alone does not prove full compatibility.
What must be confirmed Hole range, depth, rock, air supply, hose and shank. Exact suffix, nameplate, air leg, interfaces, hose/oiler/water setup and supply scope.

Choose Y24 when the job needs a handheld drill

Choose the Y24 path when the operator needs to carry, support and reposition the drill without a dedicated air-leg feed arrangement. For the current PerfoMax Y24 reference, the published values include 24 kg weight, 604 mm length, H22×108 mm shank, 34–42 mm hole range, 70×70 mm cylinder diameter and piston stroke, 0.4–0.63 MPa working pressure, air consumption up to 55 L/s and a 19 mm air pipe.

Those values help screen the application, but they do not replace a site check. Before ordering, confirm the drilling orientation, typical hole diameter and depth, rock condition, compressor delivery at the tool and how often the operator must move the drill.

Choose the YT24 route when the drill needs air-leg support

Choose the YT24 route when the drilling method depends on an air leg or supported feed arrangement. Do not order from the base name alone. The current PerfoMax page is a YT24-series inquiry entry: the quotation path requires confirmation of YT24C, TY24 or an identification-required case.

This distinction matters because weight, dimensions, air consumption, hose requirements, air-leg matching and parts can depend on the exact configuration. PerfoMax therefore does not publish one combined set of final values for every item sold under the YT24 family name.

See air-leg rock drills or open the YT24-series air-leg inquiry page.

What is not interchangeable

Do not assume that the drill body, support arrangement, air leg, hose set, oiler, water connection, service parts or repair kit can move from one name to the other. Even a shared H22×108 shank class only describes the shank connection class; it is not evidence that the machines or their parts are equivalent.

If you need a broader explanation of handheld versus air-leg working methods, use the existing handheld vs air-leg selection guide. This page stays deliberately narrow so that Y24 and YT24 buyers reach the correct product path quickly.

Send these five items for a usable quotation

  1. Support method: handheld or air-leg supported.
  2. Exact identity: full nameplate, model suffix and manufacturer if visible.
  3. Drilling task: rock type, orientation, hole diameter and typical depth.
  4. Air system: compressor model, delivered pressure, hose inside diameter and length.
  5. Supply scope: drill only, or drill plus air leg, oiler, hoses, shanks, bits and service parts.

For an existing machine with a missing or unreadable nameplate, send clear photos of both sides, the handle or air-leg connection area, air and water interfaces, shank end and all cast marks. We will mark the case as identification required instead of guessing from colour or one side-view photo.
